AAA ENCOURAGES MICHIGANDERS TO PLAN FOR VACATION
Research Shows Planners Take More Vacation, Are Happier
DEARBORN, MI (January 30, 2018) — Every year more than half of Americans fail to use all their time off, creating a stock pile of 662 million unused vacation days. AAA, in collaboration with Project: Time Off, knows the most effective remedy for American workers who want to use more vacation days is better planning. Yet only 54 percent of households set aside time to plan the use of their vacation time each year.
“In Michigan, 46 percent of employees leave nearly 16 million days unused. In Detroit, 51 percent of employees leave over 7 million days unused. By planning, we can all reap the benefits of taking a break while having something to look forward to,” said Susan Hiltz, Michigan public affairs director, AAA – The Auto Club. “AAA encourages everyone to prioritize vacation planning during National Plan for Vacation Day on January 30th.”
Research shows that planners have a distinct advantage over non-planners. Project: Time Off’s The State of American Vacation 2017 report found that planners use more of their time, take longer vacations, and are happier.
“Vacation planning doesn’t have to be stressful. Make it easy by using AAA.com, the AAA mobile app or a travel agent to plan the perfect vacation,” added Hiltz “AAA not only provides peace of mind when you travel, but helps you get started, and get to your destination,” concluded Hiltz.
AAA suggests the following tips to make your vacation planning a reality:
In addition to AAA’s tips, Project: Time Off created a vacation-planning tool to help employees get their vacation days on the calendar.
